The Rev. Gigi Conner
I was Baptized in Grace Episcopal Church in Ocala Florida. ( 1945). Received my Masters Degre from Episcopal Divinity School in 1991 and was ordained priest through Diocese of Michigan in 1992. Sponsoring parish was Christ Church Cranbrook, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
Have served in St. Paul’s, Rock Creek Parish, Washington, D.C., St. Michael’s, Manhattan, New York, Cathedral Church of St. Peter, St. Petersburg, Florida (Canon Evangelist for 10 years). Retired in 2009 then served as Vicar of St. Gregorys, Woodstock, New York, back to Florida for 8 years as Priest in Charge, St. Alban’s, St. Pete Beach Florida, and currently Priest Associate at Christ Church Cathedral in New Orleans. (moved to NOLA to be closer to oldest daughter)
I am an Associate with the Iona Community in Scotland and also an Associate with Holy Cross Monastery in West Park, New York. I have been making the long pilgrimage to Iona, Scotland almost every other year since 2007 because the worship in the Abbey feeds my soul.
I have also been to Israel, the Civil Rights museums in Montgomery and Washington, D.C.
I love to create new ways of doing worship by incorporating music and prayers from around the world, using new words in hymns to familiar tunes and material from Iona Community, Scotland, and Hymnal from the UK. I also like to design worship bulletins to make it easy for worshipers to follow service and to learn about music authors/composers. Have also made it a practice to print and hand out prayers cards which reflect prayers/issues from around the world.
In another lifetime before seminary was a Flight Attendant for eight years. Have vowed to someday write a very short book titled, Everything I Needed to Know as a Priest, I Learned as a Flight Attendant.
